DIE WINDKRAFT
EINE ENERGIEQUELLEN-FOLKLORE
funded by City of Hamburg / District Office Harburg & HFBK Freundeskreis Projektförderung
to be released in 2023
At almost 200m high, they are among the tallest buildings in Hamburg and rise directly on the A7 near Altenwerder. When they were installed in 2009, the two wind turbines were the largest in the world. Not far away, traces of old windmills can be found in the surrounding area. What happened on the way between historic wooden construct and modern mega machine? By networking regional artists, scientists and students, the project aims to open the topic of windpower on a new, cinematic scale.
WINDPOWER - FOLLOW THE EVOLUTION OF THE WIND WHEEL
The tale of the wind wheel follows two travelers, who visit it at different times: Once a wanderer strays to its early, wooden form in the folkloric past of medieval windmills. The other time a journalist flees to it in the face of the great energy transition, when it has already grown into its form of an electrified machine.
On their way, they show new and hidden insights and meet the humans of wind power. The starting point of the film is the appearance of the first millstone thousands of years ago and leads to the search of the highest wind turbine on earth in present time. The transformation of the wind wheel continues! It tells its story through the visit of two people.
